Car hire

All our Cars are supplied Alamo for 2013 departures. All cars come with air conditioning, automatic transmission, radio/CD and unlimited mileage as standard.

We recommend a car size based on the number of people travelling, however we cannot know how much luggage you will take or how large your luggage is so you are welcome to change from the recommended car to one that will suit your own requirements. We try and describe the boot (trunk) size as accurately as possible but American boot sizes tend to be a bit smaller than ours so please upgrade with us if you need to. It is often cheaper to upgrade here before you go than to do it on arrival.

At Orlando airport, Alamo now offer you a chance to choose your car!  Simply select the make, model and even the colour of the car you like from the row of the car type you've booked and off you go.  If the car you booked is not available you will be upgraded free of charge.

Insurances

Alamo Car Hire - 2013 Departures

Our Basic package, that comes as standard with every car, includes Third Party Insurance only so you are covered for any damage to a someone else's car but not your own hire car. There are also compulsory airport taxes and fees which would be payable on arrival. You can also purchase full Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance on arrival which would cover you for the damage to your own hire car in the event of an accident.

However, we offer 2 great packages that you can upgrade to that include all taxes and fees and the fully comprehensive CDW insurance

Fully Inclusive - includes all taxes and fees, third party liability, CDW and underinsured/uninsured motorist protection.

Platinum packages - same as Fully Inclusive but also includes additional drivers, one tank of fue, underage driver fees and free child seats.

If you have taken our Fully Inclusive or Platinum package there is NO excess to pay if you have an accident or damage the car. The only exception to this is if you have invalidated the car insurance eg by drink driving etc.

Look carefully. Some tour operators offer only minimum third party insurance. We continue to offer cars with Third Party of cover of $100,000 per person included, up to a limit of $300,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage. Because we'd never never sell you short.

Driving Licences

You need a full British one - an international driving licence is not needed. There is no minimum time for having had a licence. You must have your original with you and if you have the new style photocard, both parts are required. A faxed copy is not acceptable.

Credit Cards

The lead driver must have a credit card in their name to show at the counter on arrival for security purposes. A Visa or Mastercard debit card is also acceptable but no other cards will be accepted.

Fuel

Cars are provided with a full tank of fuel.

Dollar will add a charge for a full tank of fuel when you collect the car at a competitive local rate. You can then return the car empty. No refunds are given for unused fuel. Platinum Package - If you have upgraded to our Platinum package this includes a full tank of fuel and no charge for this will be made.

With Alamo you then have 2 options:

1) Alamo will add a charge for a full tank of fuel when you collect the car at a competitive local rate. You can then return the car empty. No refunds are given for unused fuel.

2) You can decline the fuel option above (to prepay at the counter) and then take the car with a full tank of fuel and then return the car full by filling up before you return the car. If the tank is not returned full you will be charged at Alamo's higher fuel rates for them to fill up the missing amount.

Satellite Navigation

Satellite navigation on all vehicles. It can be purchased locally from USD$12 per day plus tax or can pre purchase through Travel City Direct from £6 per day in advance. 

Minimum ages

Drivers must be aged 25 years or over . Drivers between the ages of 21 - 24 years of age may drive but will be required to pay an underage fee of approx $25 per day plus tax on arrival unless you have purchased our Platinum package where these are included

One way Car Hire

There are no out of state charges and no one way drop off fees in Florida.  Meaning you can pick your car up in Orlando and drop it off in Miami, giving you free rein to explore the State.

Both Dollar and Alamo operate on a 24hr clock and thanks to our special arrangement, cars can be returned within a 2 hour period of grace from the time the car was collected. After this an additional day or hour rate will apply, so get to the airport in good time!
